Thanks go to all who helped with planning, setting up, and providing entertainment. You did a marvelous job, and we had a great time of food, fellowship and fun!!

About Our Parking
Due to the decrease in the amount of parking spaces on Greene Street and an increase in the amount of church members with less mobility, we ask that church members park across the street (at the bank) if they are able to walk across the street. We only have two handicapped parking spaces, but we have more than two church members in need of handicapped parking. We thank you for your cooperation as this is a great need.

Activities
Youth & children activities will begin Sunday, September 11th.

CYC begins October 9th at 5pm. All children/young people ages 6-18 are encouraged to be a part of this, even if you don't want to sing. Do you play an instrument? Please, bring it to choir practice held every other Sunday. We also have readings available for those who don't wish to play an instrument or sing.
Activators will be starting Sunday, October 23rd after CYC practice. Thank you, Tiffany Davis, for working with our 1st-5th graders, providing them with much-needed attention.
We are in need of volunteers to provide snack suppers for the children. There's a sign-up sheet in the kitchen or you may contact Susan McGill.

Hurricane Katrina Disaster Relief
There are several ways that you can assist folks affected by Hurricane Katrina. If you would like to contribute funds, the Northeast Georgia Presbytery encourages you to channel your gifts through your local church. If you prefer sending it through FPC, please make your check payable to: First Presbyterian Church. In the memo portion of your check, write: DR000169 to help disaster survivors; DR000161 to help Pastors; DR000163 to help Church Property Damage; or "Hurricane" which will go to the PCUSA's general "US Hurricane Response". We will then send a check to the Presbytery office who will promptly send it to Presbytery Disaster Assistance Team (PDA). If you would like to contribute funds directly by credit card or check to the PDA or you are interested in housing folks, go to our Presbytery website at www.negapby.org. We will also work with the church mission teams to see about also preparing suggested aid kits to send to the appropriate folks.

New Additions to the Church Library
John Sallstrom, with his usual generosity, asked Joel Burns and Mary Barbara Tate to look over his fine collection of books on theology and related topics and to select what would most enrich our church library. So we will soon have on our shelves many books by Reinhold Niebuhr, Emil Brunner, Karl Barth, Paul Tillich and other fine scholars, all of which we hope to have cataloged and ready to be checked out by July 1st. Louise Sallstrom has volunteered to help get them processed and Nan Rogers, as always, will contribute many hours to keeping the library functioning.

Education for Ministry
St. Stephen's Episcopal invites interest Presbyterians to join in an intensive but exciting study for those who want to deepen their understanding of Scripture and prepare for more effective lay ministry. EFM-Education for Ministry- is developed by Sewanee (University of the South) for all those who share a commitment to theological study and practice.
Participants enter a four-year program of study, committing for only one year at a time: Year one-Old Testament; Year two-New Testament; Year three-Church History; Year four-Theological Choices.
St.Stephen's is pleased to sponsor an EFM program, meeting once a week, August 2005-April 2006. Please contact Dr. Jim Powell by phone (478)414-1118 or email him at ajpowell@alltel.net if you are interested or would like to have more information for yourself or a friend.
