We have formed small fellowship groups to help people get together for fun and fellowship. Each group is to meet once a month at a group member's home or somewhere else where the group decides. Each group will have five "units". Units are either individuals or couples. For each meeting one unit serves as the host and provides the beverages, one as the devotion leader, one as the activity leader, one brings the main course, and one brings the dessert. All group members bring something to contribute to a meal. For more information and/or to get involved, please speak with our interim pastor, Rev. Julia Simmons. |
Ready for an adventure? Come join our group! Everyone is welcome. Once a month we get together to travel to interesting sites within the middle Georgia area. Stay tuned here for more information on our next trip, contact Nancy Holbrook, or call the church office. |

The annual Minter Fund Weekend was October 9-10, 2004. Our leader was the Rev. Dr. Fahed Abu-Akel, former Moderator of PCUSA. The son of Palestinian Christians, Dr. Abu-Akel was born in Kuffer-Yassif, Galilee, Israel. He is the Founder and Executive director of Atlanta Ministry with International Students. He is involved in many ecumenical and community organizations and activities and is the recipient of numerous honors and awards which include having been named the man of the year by the National Presbyterian Men's Organization in 2003. The program was entitled Justice and Peace in the Holy Land. It began at 2:15pm on Saturday with session on the history of the Middle East and the history of the Israeli/Palestinian conflict. At 5:30pm we had a covered-dish supper. The church provided the meat. Participants contributed salads, vegetables, and desserts. From 6:30-7:45 pm we had another session on options to conflict among Israelis and Palestinians. After breakfast at 9:30 Sunday morning, we had a session on the Christian Church in the Middle East. Dr. Abu-Akel led us in our 11:00am worship service. The program was stimulating, informative and rewarding. We had the unique opportunity to hear from a former Moderator who has lived in the area and among the people caught up in this tragic conflict. |
